Armenia Security Council Chief: No Logic to Using Goris-Kapan Motorway
Armenia has an alternative road now, and therefore there is no logic to any longer using the Goris-Kapan motorway. The secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, Armen Grigoryan, stated about this in an interview with the Public Television—and referring to the issue of setting up of Azerbaijani customs checkpoints and carrying out customs control on the Goris-Kapan motorway in Syunik Province and the question of what effect this may have on cargo transportationl, News.am reports.
According to Grigoryan, if suddenly there is a need to use this motorway, the Azerbaijani side will inform Armenia about what process should take place in that case.
The secretary of the Security Council of Armenia said that no settlement on that road will be isolated.
"The dirt road is almost ready, but we aim to completely asphalt those roads. We had said that we would build the road connecting Tatev-Kapan to M-12 [motorway] by the end of the year, but it happened sooner. We are working with the same intensity to build the roads of these communities. A certain time problem may arise for the citizens, but this is the best solution in this situation,” noted Grigoryan.
