The passions around the Treaty on Allied Relations and Strategic Partnership between Abkhazia and Russia have not yet calmed down, while the information regarding new Russian-South Ossetian agreement has already spread. The President of South Ossetia Leonid Tibilov announced that new project of agreement between Russia and South Ossetia is being prepared and it should be in accordance with the Constitutional requirements and the interests of people.

"This agreement will be the continuation of the basic document, which was signed practically in a state of war," - Leonid Tibilov said. According to him, today there are new challenges in the world, which is one of the contributing factors to their decision to sign the new agreement.

"I would like to note that we are working on the draft agreement together with the Russian Federation. Tomorrow I am going to consult the political council and look through the documents, "- the president said and added that the new agreement will probably be signed at the beginning of the next year.

As it is supposed, in contrast to the Russian-Abkhazian treaty, new Russian-South Ossetian agreement will be more integrative. This is due to the fact that one of the main goals of South Ossetians is the unification with North Ossetians within the Russian Federation. Even "Unified Ossetia", the party which won the last South Ossetian parliamentary elections, made the question of unification the core point of its election campaign.

To sum up, most probably the new agreement between the Russian Federation and South Ossetia will be signed at the beginning of this year, and it will become Russia’s second "answer" to the Georgia’s quest for European Integration.
