The President of Armenia Received the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan

President Serzh Sargsyan on January 22 received the State Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan Minoru Kiuchi. Welcoming the guest the President stressed the importance of frequent mutual visits in terms of strengthening the bilateral ties and has expressed his gratitude for the dynamic progress of the Armenian-Japanese relations in the recent years.  Serzh Sargsyan and the State Minister Minoru Kiuchi stressed the importance of the decision to open the Embassy of Japan in Armenia, which according to them, will contribute to strengthening the Armenian-Japanese relations and widening the spheres of cooperation. The President of Armenia stressed that he remembers his official visit to Japan in 2012 and the high level agreements that they had with warmth.

Minoru Kiuchi conveyed condolences of the government of Japan over the tragedy that occurred in Gyumri to the President, the relatives of the victims and the whole Armenian nation.

During the meeting the sides covered such topics as regional issues and challenges, the current stage of the peaceful settlement of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the current problems,  the issue of the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. The sides also exchanged views on current international issues.
