Amal Clooney: Great Powers Responsible for What Happened in 1915

On January 28 the hearings of "Perinçek vs Switzerland" case at the Grand Chamber of the European Court of Human Rights took place. Amal Clooney, a famous human rights lawyer, who represents Armenia, accused Turkey of double standards for defending a Turkish Leftist who described the Armenian genocide an "international lie", reports The Telegraph. "Armenia is not here to argue against freedom of expression anymore than Turkey is here to defend it. This court knows very well how disgraceful Turkey’s record on freedom of expression is," – said Clooney, reports PeopleOfAr.

Amal Clooney accused the ECHR for being wrong, because they put under doubt the reality - the Armenian Genocide.  She stressed that she shares the pain of Armenian citizens and added: "I hold the great powers responsible for what happened in 1915. There should be no taboos for the right to speak."
