Russian plan for a pipeline named "Turkish Stream" instead of "South Stream" is not commercially viable, Vise-President for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič said during his press conference in Brussels. "This will not work. I cannot see that this would be the final solution", - Šefčovič stated.

According to Šefčovič, Turkey needed some 15 billion cubic metres per year, and the other countries of the region needed another 15 billion. "Why do you need to ship to that part of the world more than 60 billion cubic metres of gas?" asked Šefčovič referring to the fact that "Turkish Stream" (according to Russians) will have the same capacity as "South Stream", that is, 63 billion cubic metres.
