Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko called on NATO states to send modern weapons to his country, as the conflict in Eastern Ukraine keeps escalating. Poroshenko asked about this in his interview with the German Die Welt. "We still need a lot of military, technical, and specialist help to improve the fighting strength of the Ukrainian army in its resistance of Russian aggression," Poroshenko said in the interview, Voice of America reports.

Poroshenko also stressed that Ukraine wanted peace but needed a strong army and more modern weapons to fight for the peace.
