From now on the citizens of Azerbaijan will be required to take an oath for remaining loyal to the authorities. As the Azerbaijani media reports, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev have signed a decree on amending the law on the "Citizenship of the Republic of Azerbaijan", reports news.am. After the amendments enter into force, everyone who is 14 years old should take an oath of loyalty.
The oath will be in the state language and will have the following content: "Me (name, surname, father’s name), as a citizen of the Republic of Azerbaijan, do not have any obligations towards other countries. I commit myself to follow the Constitution and the laws of Azerbaijan, loyally serve the Azerbaijani state, protect its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, respect the Azerbaijani culture and traditions".
