The ambassador of Islamic Republic of Iran in Azerbaijan Mohsen Pakayin declared that there was no military resolution to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, reports the official webpage of the embassy of Iran in Azerbaijan.
“We regret very much that this conflict has been continuing for already 20 years and yet it was not resolved. We are worried because of ceasefire violations on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. I think that the military resolution of this conflict is impossible; the war will destabilize the region and Iran welcomes ongoing negotiations between conflicting parties.”
The ambassador Pakayin also referred to the activity of OSCE Minsk group, particularly noting: "I expect members of the Minsk group, who are also members of the UN Security Council, to initiate more active steps for the resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. I believe if the countries in the region cooperate more seriously, they can reach better results in this sphere. In spite of everything Nagorno-Karabagh conflict should be resolved in a peaceful way".
