A draft statement condemning the genocide towards Greeks and Assyrians by the Ottoman Turkey in 1914-1923 was presented to the RA National Assembly. Most probably it will be included on the agenda of the upcoming sessions. The document says: "The national Assembly of the Republic of Armenia
- led by principles and provisions of the UN General Assembly 96(1) resolution of December 11, 1946; the Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, 1948; the UN Convention on Non-Applicability of Statutory Limitations to War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity, 1968; all international acts on human rights,
- stating the centuries-long friendly relations between Armenian, Greek and Assyrian peoples,
DECLARES
that it condemns the genocide towards Greeks and Assyrians in 1914-1923 by the Ottoman Turkey."
