Qu Xing, China's ambassador to Belgium, told Chinese state news agency Xinhua, that Western powers should take into consideration Russia's legitimate security concerns over Ukraine, Reuters reports.
In his speech Qu Xing criticized competition between Russia and the West over the Ukraine crisis, urging Western powers to "abandon the zero-sum mentality" with Russia. According to Chinese official, "nature and root cause" of the Ukrainian crisis was the "game" between Russia and Western powers, including the United States and the European Union, which was further escalated by the external intervention of different powers.
Qu Xing also added that Moscow would continue to feel it was being treated unfairly if the West did not change its approach.
