On March 13 the former Turkish president Abdullah Gül confirmed that he will not run for parliament at the upcoming general election in June, Hurriyet reports. Gül mentioned that at this moment he will not be active in politics but will "use his knowledge and experience on behalf of the nation."
Earlier the Turkish President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Davutoglu had called it "propitious" if Gül run in the upcoming elections.
