The Plenary Council of the municipality of the Spanish Betera city has officially recognized the Armenian Genocide, armeniangenocide100.org reports.
The decision states that during 1915-1921, - the Young Turk regime, massacres and deportations of Armenians in the current Turkish territories took place, as a result of which 1.5 million Armenians were killed and another 2 million were forced to flee their homes and seek refuge in the whole world, thus creating Armenian Diaspora. "The municipality of Betera recognizes the Armenian Genocide and condemns the crimes against humanity that occurred during that time," – the statement says.
