Eurovision 2015: Highlights of the Week

19:23     27 March, 2015

The highlights of the Eurovision 2015 for this week range from political news to ones on the favorites and CD/DVD releases dates.

Once Hungary introduced its song to be performed in the coming contest, Israel protested it, reports i24news.tv. The video of the anti-war song entitled "Wars for Nothing" captures the civilian casualties of military actions in Gaza in 2014 and stresses the deaths of more than 5 hundred Palestinian kids. Israel’s state officials demanded the "problematic segments" to be removed from the song. The response of the Hungarian side is that they will edit those parts of the lyrics that have political implications which is also banned by the Eurovision rules.

"It has saddened me to see it [Eurovision Contest] degenerate from such a noble intention into a joke where the BBC often presents it as a chance to take the mickey out of other nations and for a lot of countries to vote in a partisan way. This is not the intention or spirit of the event. It is to celebrate and support our differences and discover what we have in common – in a fun and entertaining way," -  Sandie Shaw, the first UK singer having won in the Eurovision 1967 noted,  Huffington Post reports.

This week’s bets and polls on the favorites of the contest do not quite differ from the previous ones. The list leads Italy with the song "Grande Amore" leaving behind Sweden’s "Heroes" and Estonia’s "Goodbye".

As Eurovision’s official site reports, the dates of the contest’s official CD and DVD releases are clear. The CD album comprising all the songs to be presented at the coming contest is said to be released on April 20, whereas the release date of the Eurovision 2015 DVD capturing 2 Semi-finals, the Grand Final shows and some bonus materials is scheduled on June 22.

It should be reminded that this year Armenia is represented by Geneology band with the song initially entitled "Don’t Deny" and later on renamed "Face The Shadow". Geneology will perform at the first semi-final on May 19 at number 2.
