The controversial security bill was finally adopted by the Turkish Parliament on March 27. After 16 hours of debate – all night session, as Hurriyet reports, out of 231 deputies 199 voted for and 32 – against the bill.

Earlier, after much debates, the domestic security bill was amended, as the opposition was claiming that the adoption of the bill would turn Turkey into a police state. However, even the amended bill includes some of the most contentious measures, including jail terms for protesters who carry Molotov cocktails and other such weapons.
