Today, on May 16 Pope Francis met the President of the Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas. This meeting came after Vatican recognized the State of Palestine in a new treaty, switching its relations from the Palestinian Liberation Organization to the state of Palestine, The Times of Israel reports.
According to the source, Abbas’s visit came a day before two nuns who lived in Ottoman Palestine during the 19th century will be canonized in Vatican, becoming the first Palestinian Arabs to gain sainthood.
