Going back to G8 format is impossible until Russia's actions contradict with International law, Angela Merkel said on the eve of Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga.
"Russia will not be present on the G7 Summit in Elmau, as today we have the G7 as a Union of mutual values",- German Chancellor said adding that: "Unless Russia accepts the principles of the International Law and acts correspondingly, return to G8 is impossible for us".
G8 turned into a G7 in 2014 after the countries decided not to send their representatives to Sochi and gathered in Brussels without Russia being present. This decision was made after the events in Crimea. At present the G7 is comprised of Germany, US, Canada, Japan, France, Great Britain, Italy.
