Edgars Rinkevics: Armenia May Get Visa Free Regime
Foreign Minister of Latvia Edgars Rinkevics told "Kommersant" newspaper that the EU may eliminate visa regime with Armenia.
"We offer the possibility of having a Visa Free Regime to all our partners. We have made a progress in case of Armenia and Azerbaijan. If these two countries express their will and fulfill all the criteria, I do not see a reason why we should not give that opportunity",- Latvian FM said.
He also spoke about the negotiations for an agreement to be signed with Armenia.
"We have already discussed that question in January, during the EU-Armenia Council meeting. We are ready to start negotiations on a new agreement, which will be based upon the already discussed points with Armenia in 2013, more precisely Association Agreement. The main difference is that Armenia is already a member of the Eurasian Economic Union. Thus we must look for ways of cooperation, which would ensure that Armenia’s EEU membership does not contradict with a number of areas of cooperation with the EU", -Rinkevics added.
