German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier plans to visit Ukraine later this week to discuss the implementation of the Minsk II peace deal between Kiev and the self-proclaimed republics of Luhansk and Donetsk, Sputnik News reports.
The Minsk II accords in mid-February and presupposed ceasefire, pullout of heavy artillery and prisoner exchange. So far the deal was not completely implemented as the sides continuously accused each other of violation of the 13-point deal.
Germany along with France, Russia and Ukraine is one of the four Normandy format countries that brokered the ceasefire deal between Kiev and Luhansk and Donetsk.
