Ex-president of France Nikolas Sarkozy changed the name of his party from "Union for a Popular Movement"to "Republicans".
On Friday 83% of the members voted for change of the party name. Although this was not accepted smoothly by the population. The opponents of the idea say that the French people are themselves the republicans.
The party is considered the main opposition force in the country. Its leader Nikolas Sarkozy will be running for the presidential elections in 2016.
