Turkey recalled its ambassador from Brazil for consultations after the Brazilian Senate passed legislation recognizing the massacre of Armenians during World War I in Turkey as genocide, dailymail.co.uk reports.
"The senate's decision on the events of 1915 distorts the historical truths and ignores the law, and we consider it as an example of irresponsibility…Political decisions of this nature, taken under the influence of the Armenian lobbies can neither change the historical facts nor the legal norms," Daily Sabah quotes the statement of the Foreign Ministry of Turkey.
