The European Commission hailed Greece’s referendum as not "legally correct," Telegraph reports.
On the occasion Valdis Dombrovskis, the Latvian-born EU vice president responsible for the euro, noted:
"The Commission made clear before the referendum that the question as it was posed in the referendum was neither factually nor legally correct. It was reflecting the proposals of the institutions which were never formally endorsed by the Eurogroup. It is for the eurogroup to come up with proposals. Secondly, it did not really reflect the latest state of play as regards the proposals at the time the Greek negotiators left the table. Third, they referred the programme which has meanwhile expired."
