The Turkish organization "ASÄ°MDER," known for its anti-Armenian activities, intend to disrupt the liturgy, held every year in the Armenian Surb Khach Church on Akhtamar Island of Lake Van (Western Armenia, now territory of Turkey). As ermenihaber.am writes referring to Turkish Milliyet, such an intention was expressed by the spokesman of the organization Irfan Ermish.
It should be reminded that the Armenian Church of Surb Khach was built by the order of the Armenian King Gagik Artsruni in 915-921 and was destroyed after the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire in 1915. In Turkey, the church is now functioning as a museum. A liturgy to be held in the church was for the first time permitted on September 19, 2010 - after 95 years, Panorama.am informs.
