According to the Turkish military’s announcement on September 2, a Turkish troop was killed and two others were lightly wounded by Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in an ambush that took place in Hakkari, a southeastern Anatolian town which borders Iraq and Iran, Hurriyet reports.
The incident occurred when a group of PKK militants fired on a military unit in an operation to provide road safety between the Semdinli and Tekeli districts.
