Zeid Raad al-Hussein, the UN’s top human rights official has called for the creation of a special court that would include foreign magistrates and investigators, to look into atrocities committed during Sri Lanka’s civil war, The Guardian reports.
In a report on Sri Lanka, al-Hussein spoke about torture, executions, sexual abuse by security forces; and suicide attacks, etc.
According to the source the US prepares to co-sponsor a resolution at the UN human rights council in Geneva seeking to improve accountability in Sri Lanka and this report is in that context.
