During the discussion over the sharpening of the situation on Karabakh conflict by video bridge "Carnegie" Foundation for the international peace analyst Thomas de Waal noted that the war is a great risk for Azerbaijan, Artsakh Press reports.
"It states, that the tension can raise more on the contact line, which will cause dozens of casualties. This can be a serious strike to the peaceful resolution of the conflict. It is not known how the war will be finished for Azerbaijan. It is a great risk for Azerbaijani regime first of all. They do not have such military potential in order to start large-scale military actions. At the same time, it is not known Russia’s respond to the situation, if Azerbaijan starts war," he said.
On September Azerbaijani side provoked tensed situation by keeping the Armenian Tavush Province border settlements under fire. Armenian villages got serious material damages, the studies were interrupted at schools, and agricultural works were stopped in the fields for security considerations. Servicemen and peaceful civilians were injured from Azerbaijani shots, and three civilians were killed in Berdavan and Paravakar.
