Germany has no plans to expand its military presence in the area of action against the terrorist group "Islamic State" in the Middle East. This was declared by German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Lenta.ru reports. Thus, Merkel has rejected the request of the Americans to send more military aid against the IS.
On Saturday, December 12, Der Spiegel reported, that the US Defense Secretary Ashton Carter has sent his German counterpart a letter with a request to consider increasing its contribution to the fight against the IS.
"I think Germany performs its task, and we should not talk about new issues related to this topic at the moment," Merkel said.
