The United States government has provided weapons to the People’s Protection Units (YPG) in Syria, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on December 29, in a response that came a day after the U.S. refuted claims that it supported the military wing of the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD), Hurriyet reports.
"The coalition which the U.S. is in, has not been giving aerial support to our Euphrates Shield operation since a particular timeframe. The U.S. is providing arms to the YPG and PYD, period. If they say so, this is what I’m saying, it is very clear," Çavuşoğlu said.
He also criticized the lack of coalition support in Turkey’s fight to capture Syrian town of al-Bab from ISIL.
