Spokesperson for Russian President Dmitry Peskov has confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated Armenian ex-President Robert Kocharyan on New Year and Christmas, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Peskov, in his letter Putin congratulated Kocharyan and wished all the best.
Earlier, Peskov said that Putin and Kocharyan have had good relations for many years, which are not influenced at all by events taking place in Armenia.
Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan is in custody since December 7. He is accused of overthrowing the constitutional order during the protests in Yerevan in 2008.
