US secretary of state Mike Pompeo cancelled the Moscow stage of his visit to Russia on Monday in order to hold talks with European officials in Brussels about "Iran and other issues", RIA Novosti reported. But Pompeo will meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Sochi, as it was planned.
As it is reported by media, on Monday Pompeo decided to leave for Brussels to discuss “pressing issues”, in particular Iran issue, with European leaders. As a result, he canceled the Moscow stage of his trip to the Russian Federation.
Earlier, the Department of State has announced that Mike Pompeo will visit Russia on May 12-14, on Tuesday he will head to Sochi to meet with Putin and Lavrov.
