Cyprus President Nicos Anastasiades has undergone urgent surgery after a fracture, the country’s Health Minister Constantinos Ioannou tweeted.
Anastasiades, aged 73, tripped and fell, suffering a fracture of his right thigh, as he was leaving a shop in his home town Limassol.
The president will return to his duties as usual after about three weeks.
Nicos Anastasiades has served as President of Cyprus since 2013.
