Political analyst Karen Bekaryan on Monday dismissed the legitimacy of the recently filed criminal case against him, considering the entire proceeding unjustified and "devoid of any logic", Tert.am reports.
Asked to comment on his use of the VPN app (which was the underlying motivation behind the proceeding), Bekaryan noted that the Azerbaijani authorities applied resriction policies to the Armenian IT networks for years, with many users being blocked from the system when trying access an Azerbaijani web resource.
Bekaryan also expressed his concern over the changing status of the Armeian captives in Azerbaijan, calling for action by Armenian lawyers and human rights activist to offera aid to those persons.
"I find that any inquest body and any person engaging in his or her personal inquest needs to have an understanding of the software system in question, i.e. - the VPN application and the methods of its functioning. They can seek specilists’ assistance to have the necessary information. Those questions wouldn’t arise provided simplest information was in place, as the entire process contains only two questions: that I know Ara Saghatelyan and the fact I made use of the VPN system," he added.
