PACE observers call for the restoration of free movement through the Lachin Corridor
The four co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) (on the monitoring of Azerbaijan and Armenia) addressed the situation in Lachin in a joint statement, expressing their concern about the interruption of free movement, ARMENPRESS reports, reads the statement jointly signed by the four co-reporters.
"Freedom and security of movement of people and goods along the corridor must be urgently restored. We call on all parties to the trilateral declaration of 9 November 2020 to take the necessary measures immediately," reads the statement.
"In order to achieve lasting peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, the created situation and diplomatic efforts were discussed on Wednesday by the PACE monitoring committee with Toivo Klaar, the EU's special representative in the South Caucasus, and Brice Roquefeuil, the French co-chair of the OSCE," the statement said.
"We reaffirm our readiness to provide all the necessary political support, including by conducting a fact-finding mission in the region," the co-rapporteurs said.
