Armenians are People of Mount Ararat, Where World was Born
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's visit to Italy will support the local Armenian community, which is preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide committed by the Ottoman Empire during the First World War, News.am writes citing Italian news portal Romait.
"We should not forget: Armenians were the first people of the world to adopt Christianity as state religion. Armenians are the people of Mount Ararat, where, according to the Bible, the world was born again after the flood. This Sunday the president will attend the Mass at the Cathedral of St.. Peter, which will be held by Pope Francis I to commemorate the martyrs of Genocide. But other events commemorating the memory of the victims of Genocide will also be held in other Italian cities."
