Asian Countries have a Progress in Achieving Sustainable Energy

A new report from World Bank found that Asian countries are making a vital contribution to achieve global sustainable energy goals. Although the region tries to ensure electricity access for inhabitants and use more modern renewable energy, still there is a need for future development of energy efficiency and access to clean, smoke-free cooking.

According to the ''Progress Toward Sustainable Energy: Global Tracking Framework 2015'' report Asia has about 60 percent of the global progress on energy access and clean energy objectives during 2010-2012.

The key point that makes difference between global and Asian energy performances is that global consumption of modern renewable energy (sources such as solar, wind and geothermal) has grown only for 4 percent per year during 201-2012, while in Asia that growth was close to 8 percent.
