The UN Forecasts Growth of the World Population by the End of the Century
The population of the Earth, according to a demographic report of the United Nations, at the end of the 21st century will reach 11.2 billion, RIA Novosti reports referring to the Associated Press.
By 2030 this figure will be 8.5 billion. In 2050 the Earth's population will reach 9.7 billion. India will surpass China in population in 2022 and Nigeria in 2050 will surpass the US and become the third in the world in the number of residents.
The report also notes that there is a tendency of human aging. So the number of people aged over 60 in 2050 will increase by about half, for example, in Europe, the number of elderly residents will be 34%.
The current population of the Earth is more than 7.5 billion people.
