The Latest iPhones and Their Loyal Consumers

Yesterday there was a great event for iPhone lovers all over the world. The Apple company finally unveiled  its latest iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus smartphones on 9th of September. These new "S" series of iPhones are traditionally the improved versions of its predecessors, (namely iPhone 6) and are distinguished for having a Force Touch, or pressure-sensitive 3D Touch technology which reads your inputs based on how hard or soft you press on the iPhone screen. They have also the ability to shoot higher-resolution HD 4K video with 8 million pixels and a camera resolution with 12 megapixels.

According to  USA Today, these new models will be available in silver, gold, rose gold and space grey colors, with an original price of $199 — $399 for 6S and $299 — $499 for 6S Plus.

Apple has a long history of innovating around existing ideas in software and hardware, taking the best-in-class techniques from other areas to apply them to its smartphones, and looking at its own successes to translate them to its mobile platform.

As Forbes puts it, the iPhone, more than any other smartphone, would be built on an evolutionary approach, improving through many small steps and cutting away development branches that simply did not work. And the best place to illustrate this journey is with one of Apple’s key smartphone advantages… the applications.

It is no secret that there has been a great deal of hype surrounding the iPhone and it is also no secret that Apple probably has the most loyal and fanatic customers in the world.

In the report of The Strand Consulting, one of the areas that has the most fascinated the analysts , is the approach that Apple and the iPhone fans have had towards the product, and the energy they have spent defending the product despite the shortcomings and limitations of both past and present versions of the iPhone.

You may have heard the term Stockholm syndrome used in reference to hostages that form bizarre attachments to their captors. Analysts from Strand Consulting are using the same term to describe iPhone owners.

Stockholm syndrome, or capture-bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending and identifying with the captors. These feelings are generally considered irrational in light of the danger or risk endured by the victims, who essentially mistake a lack of abuse from their captors for an act of kindness, Time.com reports.

To put it simpler, Apple has launched a beautiful phone with a fantastic user interface that has had a number of technological shortcomings that many iPhone users have accepted and defended, despite those shortcomings resulting in limitations in iPhone users’ daily lives.

There are many arguments for and against the iPhone, on the other hand there is no doubt that Apple has some of the most loyal end users on the market and that iPhone users will go out of their way to defend the phone they love and worship.
There are many similarities to the Stockholm Syndrome and from an outside perspective there is little doubt that many mobile phone manufacturers are most probably envious of the users on Apple's platform.
In reality the iPhone is surrounded by a multitude of people, media and companies that are happy to bend the truth to defend the product they have purchased from Apple.
