The President of Armenia and other Heads of States at EPP Statutory Congress

The Spanish capital city Madrid is hosting the Statutory Congress of the European People's Party, the largest group in the European Parliament.

Hosted by Prime Minister of Spain and President of ''Partido Popular'' Mariano Rajoy, EPP President Joseph Daul, and EPP Secretary General Antonio Lopez, with the presence of EPP Group Chairman Manfred Weber, the Congress will be attended by more  than 3,000 participants, including 750 delegates, 14 heads of states and governments from the EU and non-EU countries, and the EPP's leaders in the European institutions.

As the press release of EPP reports, among the participants of the forum are Angela Merkel (Germany), Pedro Passos Coelho (Portugal)̦ Laimdota Straujuma (Latvia), Enda Kenny (Ireland), and Nicos Anastasiades (Cyprus), Viktor Orban (Hungary) and other heads of states and governments.
European Commission President Jean - Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk will also take part in the EPP Congress and Summit.

The president of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan will also take part in the annual congress of the EPP and its enlarged summit. During the visit, Sargsyan is scheduled to have a meeting with EPP chairman Joseph Dole.

Let's recall that the Republican Party of Armenia, as well as "Orinats Yerkir"  and Heritage parties were granted in 2012 the status of observer in the European People's Party.

According to the Global Post, the Congress will hold discussions over economic policies needed to "overcome economic difficulties and return to growth and job creation," while the need for a digital single market and the need to teach the skills for the digital era are also on the agenda.

While the EPP Congress in Madrid will focus on foreign and security policies such as migration and fighting terrorism, it will also offer new solutions on growth, employment, digital single market, climate change and the partnership between Europe and the United States.

The EPP will also be looking at security issues both inside and outside threats in a context where "the separation between internal and external threats no longer exists."

This will highlight issues such as the Ukrainian crisis and the conflicts in Syria and Libya, as well as the subsequent threat of extremism and terrorism and the ongoing migrant crisis caused by these conflicts.

The Congress will also discuss the elections of a new EPP president, 10 vice presidents, a treasurer and a Secretary General.
