Iraqi Kurdistan Prepares for a Referendum on Independence
Kurdistan Democratic Party Leader Massoud Barzani has announced about a referendum on independence to be organized in Iraqi Kurdistan.
He gathered members and a KDP official, Aras Haso Mirhan and ordered to begin talks with other regional parties for a referendum on the independence vote.
According to World Bulletin, at a serious of closed door sessions in Washington in May earlier this year, Barzani had said that Kurds will hold a referendum on independence from Iraq but said that "I cannot say if it will be in the next year, or when, but certainly the independent Kurdistan is coming,”
