Karen Bekaryan: PACE is Our Home

We should not forget that Armenian is a CoE and PACE full member and Marković’s resolution cannot become a reason for building a barricade with the CoE. The Chairman of NGO "European Integration", the RA NA Deputy Karen Bekaryan declared this during a press-conference.

"We are a full member of PACE and our delegation together with their partners should initiate reforms not to allow such kind of situations happen towards this or that country in the future," Bekaryan said. He mentioned that the tools of Armenian Parliamentary diplomacy also need reforms. This is not a problem of persons, but rather an institutional one.

In the context of Armenia-EU relations, Bekaryan referred also to the final statement of the 16th EU-Armenia Parliamentary Cooperation Committee. He assessed the statement positive, particularly highlighting the fact that it refers to the resumption of talks between the EU and Armenia, of the content of Association Agreement in a new document, mentioning the willingness on both sides of deepening the bilateral cooperation, as well as Armenia’s great contribution in the context of overcoming the migration crisis. Bekaryan also mentioned that the wording in the document on Karabakh conflict settlement is also very important as it expresses the official position of the EU and demand from Azerbaijan to agree on investigation mechanisms suggested by the mediators.
