PACE should Cooperate with the Representatives of NKR

Today, on February 1, the four-day session of the National Assembly of Armenian began with the discussion of the two anti-Armenian reports, one of which was adopted by PACE and the other not. The head of the Armenian delegation to PACE Hermine Naghdalyan, the members of the delegation Naira Zohrabyan, Naira Karapetyan and Babayan at the press conference presented the details of their work in Strasbourg on January 24-30 during PACE Winter session.

The head of the delegation Naghdalyan informed that the session was full of important tasks and resolutions. The Armenian delegation worked intensely, participating in all debates of resolutions and reports on PACE agenda. The head of the delegation mentioned that together with the two anti-Armenian resolutions, PACE delegates also discussed the issues on the fight against terrorism, protection of the Ombudsman, human rights, the protection of women's rights, NGOs, in which Armenian delegates actively participated.

Naghdalyan referred to the discussions of the two anti-Armenian resolutions of PACE in details and mentioned that in the result of the debates, the draft resolution "Escalation of violence in Nagorno-Karabakh and the other occupied territories of Azerbaijan" by Robert Walter was rejected by PACE members, while the draft resolution "Inhabitants of frontier regions of Azerbaijan are deliberately deprived of water" by Milica Marković was adopted. Referring to this resolution on Sarsang reservoir, Naghdalyan mentioned that Marković when preparing the report, has categorically refused all the suggestions to visit the reservoir and to closely get acquainted with the situation. She also mentioned that Azerbaijan refuses all the proposals of the joint use of the reservoir, which was made by the Deputy Prime Minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Aghabekyan.

The Head of Delegation Hermine Naghdalyan thanked all the structures and people who cooperated with the members of the delegation to achieve the above-mentioned success. Speaking about the Karabakh issue, the Vice Speaker particularly emphasized that in this matter the political line of Armenia in PACE remains the same - anything concerning Karabakh issue should be discussed only with the participation of its representatives. "Our policy was and is that PACE collaborated with the parliamentarians of NKR, as was done in case of Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan and other countries in the framework of the program Partners for Democracy" Naghdalyan said.
