Ankara Bomb Attack and a Good Reason to Kill Kurds?

vista.sahafi.jo

On Sunday Turkey has been hit by another car bombing which is the second mass-casualty blast to rock Ankara in three weeks.

During the attack at least 37 people were killed and 125 wounded in the capital's transit hub in Kizilay.

After the attack Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan vowed to start a war against terrorism, announcing that country's security forces would bring terrorism to "its knees".

"Our people should not worry, the struggle against terrorism will for certain end in success and terrorism will be brought to its knees," he said, BBC reports.

Turkey's Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu said that 11 people had so far been detained in connection with the attack.

"11 detentions have taken place so far. An entire network web is being brought to light. We are acting very deliberately while sharing the information we have in our hands now'', he said, English Bianet reports.

According to Turkish media four of those detained were in the south-eastern city of Sanliurfa.  What refers to the two suicide bombers, who were killed during their mission, according to Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus one of them was certainly a female, Sputnik News reports.

It should be noted that earlier, unnamed security officials announced that the female bomber was a member of the PKK from the eastern town of Kars, who joined the group in 2013.

This statement was followed by Turkish airstrikes in northern Iraq, during which 45 PKK members were killed; Shelters, caves and gun emplacements were destroyed, Daily Sabah reports.

However, the Turkish authorities were not satisfied with it. Moreover, they declared a curfew in a neighborhood of southeast country's largest Kurdish city Diyarbakir in Turkish Kurdistan on Tuesday to fight Kurdish militants in the area. So far four people have already been killed, Reuters reports.

It should be noted that despite the announcements of Turkish authorities and their military operations against the Kurdish forces, many citizens are surprised by government's inability to prevent a second bomb attack by the PKK. Besides there is anger among public that Turkish authorities had not taken into consideration the warnings made by the US Embassy in Ankara last week that a terrorist attack might be possible in the city. It is noteworthy that US Embassy has mentioned that it had got the information from Turkish government sources, Asia Time reports.

For a moment one gets an impression that the Ankara bombing despite taking lives of many people, in some way served positively for the interests of Turkish authorities. This was one more reason to declare that PKK is a great threat for Turkey and to intensify fight against this militants, at the same time "solving their problems" with the Kurds living in Turkey.
