RA NSS Statement on Developments in Yerevan: Full Text
The National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement on the developments in Yerevan this morning.
The statement reads:
"This morning group of armed people entered the police patrol area and under a threat of using force keeps people there.
Simultaneously their proponents regularly spread disinformation via news outlets and social media platforms about starting an armed uprising, capturing buildings and premises. The RA National Security Service declares that the information absolutely does not correspond to reality.
The state authorities continue their normal operation, while law enforcement authorities are properly carrying out public safety functions.
Negotiations are currently underway with the armed militants for them to peacefully surrender to the Armenian authorities.
We assure that this as well as any other illegal operation will immediately be thwarted by legal authorities while the people who initiated it will be neutralized and taken under responsibility in accordance with the RA legislation," the statement reads.
