Trumposconi: Americans Welcome to the World of Silvio Berlusconi!

In recent days the Italian social media widely uses the #Trumposconi special hashtag featuring the former Prime Minister of Italy Silvio Berlusconi and the President-elect of the USA, Donald Trump. The hashtag is created to  satirically show the similarity between the two leaders.

Moreover, this topic has been discussed not only in the social media but also in the Italian press: "Americans, you have chosen Donald Tramp, welcome to the world of Silvio Berlusconi".

Users joke that the only difference between Trump and Berlusconi is that ‘’Trump has intercontinental rocket passwords."

Both the former Prime Minister of Italy and President-elect of US managed to create business empires before the start of their political careers, which gave them a chance to own their own election campaign financing.

Besides, there is a similarity between the two politicians in the way and manner they are debating. Both of them have stood out for bad jokes and sexist statements.

But the similarities are not limited with this either: both Trump and Berlusconi are well aware how the courtrooms look like. After being elected, Trump tried to quickly settle the fraud charges related to the case of Trump University, but the newly elected president and his company still have another 70 lawsuits. It is possible that Trump will use those cases for his own PR like Berlusconi used to do.

These similarities are not perceived just as a joke by analysts. The latter think the US will soon see what the Italians saw after Berlusconi’s government. Thus, one should not underestimate Trump, which continue to do many experts. Like Trump, Berlusconi was also perceived as inexperienced newcomer who cannot make serious political decisions, but today he is considered as one of the most serious Italian politics.
