Israeli Defence Minister: EU Countries Should Learn from Putin’s Treatment of Erdogan
Germany and the EU countries should treat Erdogan and his government as Putin did, after the Turkish air force downed the Russian SU-24 aircraft, Israeli Defence Minister Avigdor Lieberman said last week at a meeting with foreign ministers and defense ministers of the European countries.
According to a number of anonymous EU envoys, during the meeting Israeli Defence Minister called on Europe to take a harder line against Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Ermenihaber reports, referring to Haaretz newspaper.
"Within three months, Putin made Erdogan fold, you could learn from him," Lieberman said.
Lieberman, speaking about the mass arrests, that followed the military coup attempt of July 15, said; "Why are you silent? There are a number of options for exerting pressure on Turkey’’.
