War Veteran: The Cattle "Armed" with Lights Made the Opponent Run in Panic

This year the Armenian Army turned 25. The people, who stand in the origins of the creation of the army, who participated in the war of 90s and were engaged in the post-war reconstruction works, have the best understanding about our army.

"Armedia" IAA talked to mayor, military veteran Vachagan Amirkhanyan.

"During the war I was Senior Lieutenant, afterwards I worked in the division of capital construction and soldier housing as a chief designer. Now I have retired as a mayor," Vachagan said.

In response to the question whether he notices any changes in the Armenian army, Amirkhanyan noted: "There are many reforms. For me they are not only noticeable, I myself took part in those processes. Those changes refer not only to the improvement of the facilities and house-building, but they are also psychological. The April war proved that the psychological mood, alertness is at a high level."

"You should not underestimate you opponent, however moral, psychological atmosphere in the opponent’s army is weak, because the level of relationship among military soldiers and military discipline, is not like ours. This leads to victory," he noted.

We were interested in funny incidents that happened during the war. The military veteran smiled: "After the end of the war, engineer works were conducted, particularly construction of roads, military positions, demining. At that time because there was no sufficient technical equipments, we used animal forces, those of horses, donkeys. There were many cases, when we fastened lights on the cattle; the opponent thought it was military attack and run in panic."

"In our army there were many smart tricks. For example, I remembered an incident (laughs). During the military operation in Kelbajar, the Armenian soldiers poured flour from the helicopter, the opponent thought it was chemical weapon, and ran away."

Congratulating on the day of army Amirkhanyan noted: "I will advice the solders standing on the borders to immediately perform the orders and requests of their commanders. Aside from the fact, that those, who listen to the words of adults, will not face hardships, it is their duty in the army."
