The Daily Mail: Tombs of Russian and Armenian 'Thieves in Law' Remind Visitors that Even in Death They Have Status
The extravagant tombs belonging to Russian and Armenian 'Thieves in Law' remind visitors that, even in death, they still have status.
The photos, captured by a Moscow-based photographer, show the final resting place of Russian gangsters and criminals, now surrounded by intricate statues and floral arrangements, the Daily Mail reports.
The Russian Mafia came forth after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991.
The photographer visited five cemeteries located at Armenian, Lyublinkoye, Kuzminskoye, Lyublinkoye and Vagankovskoye in Moscow.
Photographing them it's not an easy task, as some of the cemeteries are heavily guarded in an attempt to keep the mobsters' lavish lifestyles a secret from the general public.
