Members of the European Parliament Supported Us in Adopting the Resolution on the Killer Robots: Armenuhi Kyureghyan (EXCLUSIVE)
The Euronest Parliamentary Assembly finished its work in Kiev. "Armedia" IAA talked with Armenuhi Kyureghyan, member of the Armenian Delegation to Euronest, MP from the "Armenian Revolutionary Federation" faction of the RA National Assembly about the main topics discussed at the Assembly.
- Mrs. Kyureghyan, what important things will you mention about this session of Euronest PA?
- I should point out that the Armenian delegation actively participated in the work of the Euronest session in Kiev, as well as in the preparation of the discussed and adopted documents. We offered numerous amendments to the documents on human rights, the freedom of the media, the implementation of the Paris Accord, energy security, and the role of women in the society. The majority of these proposals have been accepted.
It is noteworthy that for the first time in such a platform the issue of the rights of people living in conflict zones in the context of environmental protection regardless of the political situation was discussed and fixed in an adopted document.
A resolution was adopted on the so-called artificial intelligence and lethal weapons – keller robots, the use of which are not regulated during wartime. During the April war and not only, Artsakh and Armenia, once again became convinced of the following: the use of artificial intelligence, the use of new generation robots, deadly drones can lead to numerous human casualties.
I should say that both the members of the European Parliament and our partners from the Ukrainian, Moldovan and Georgian delegations supported us in the adoption of this resolution.
Another important achievement was that the Armenian side once again was able to fix that the Karabakh conflict is essentially different from the rest of the post-Soviet territory conflicts and the only international format for the conflict settlement is the OSCE Minsk Group.
I also consider the Women's Forum held within the framework of the session, which once again highlighted the need to increase the role of women in the society, to be very important.
