The RA NA President to the French Ambassador to the RA: the Recognition of the Artsakh People’s Right to Self-Determination Has No Alternative

On November 6, the RA NA President Ara Babloyan received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the RA Jonathan Lacôte, the press service of the RA NA reports. 

Welcoming the guest, the RA NA President highlighted the high level of the relations existing between Armenia and France and wished the Ambassador fruitful work.

Ara Babloyan highly assessed the role of France as OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair in the solution of the NK conflict through peaceful means, noting: "We are thankful to France for the efforts aimed at peacefully solving this conflict. The recognition of the Artsakh people’s right to self-determination has no alternative."

The RA NA President underlined the importance of the French culture, literature and language influence on Armenia, in this context emphasizing the holding of the Summit of the Francophonie International Organization in 2018 in our country. Ara Babloyan has stated that Armenia aspires to develop and deepen the cooperation with France in all spheres: educational, cultural, health care and others.

In the RA NA President’s word, the events connected with France are in the centre of attention of the RA National Assembly, and especially the RA NA Armenia-France Friendship Group.

Ara Babloyan expressed his support to the newly appointed Ambassador in assisting the programmes directed to the deepening of Armenia-France relations.

The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to the RA Jonathan Lacôte has thanked the RA NA President for the reception, noting that it is a great honour for him to present France in Armenia.

The Ambassador touched upon the 25th anniversary of the establishment of France-Armenia diplomatic relations and highlighted the holding of the Summit of the Francophonie International Organization being expected next year in Armenia.

The Ambassador observed the holding of the Summit in Armenia as an important event from all viewpoints for the two countries, which will allow consolidating the member countries of the organization over the humanitarian common ideas.

Jonathan Lacôte also referred to the creation and development of the new cultural and educational centres, taking into consideration the interest towards the French educational centres.
