2018: What Elections are Expected in the World?
2018 has already launched, and we would like to know what electoral processes are expected in the world, which can directly or indirectly affect us.
At the beginning of the year, presidential elections are expected in the Czech Republic, Cyprus and Finland.
For the first time in Armenia, on March 1-10, the country's president will be elected by the National Assembly, not by popular vote. Such a change is conditioned by the transition to a parliamentary system, according to which the powers of the head of state will pass to the head of the government.
Presidential elections will be held in Russia on March 18. Celebrity show-woman Ksenia Sobchak, the Communist Party leader, Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party, Vladimir Zhirinovsky, and Vladimir Putin, the incumbent President, are nominated for the post.
Parliamentary elections are expected in May in Lebanon, the results of which are very important from the standpoint of political stability in the country.
In addition, parliamentary elections are also expected in Afghanistan and Brazil.
In October, presidential elections will be held in neighboring Azerbaijan. The winner of the upcoming non-competitive elections is already obvious. The incumbent President Ilham Aliyev will take a crushing victory and will assume the office of the President of Azerbaijan for the fourth time.
The final electoral process of the year will be the November elections of the US House of Representatives and the Senate, which are crucial for the Armenian lobbying organizations operating in the United States.
