We Will Not Deviate from Our Way of Making Armenia Better: Mane Tandilian (EXCLUSIVE)

"Armedia" IAA prepared a series of interviews with representatives of all four factions of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia and Artsakh each, trying to summarize the steps taken in 2017 and the plans for 2018. Thus we present an exclusive interview with Mane Tandilian, Member of the "Yelq" party of National Assembly.

- What year was 2017 for your faction and for you personally ?

- 2017 was full of political events for the "Yelq" faction, taking into account the elections of the National Assembly and the Council of Elders of Yerevan. Our participation in these elections required a tense daily work. We have recorded some success, but in order to make essential changes, people's wider support is needed.

For me personally, 2017 was a turning point. I have radically changed my life, said goodbye to my comfort zone, and completely redistributed my life's composition. I will do everything for the welfare and well-being of every citizen of the Republic of Armenia.

- What are the main achievements and omissions of your work?

- I think it’s early yet to speak about our parliamentary activity, since 2017 was a more cognitive year. There are many expectations and we clearly realize it. At the same time, it is obvious that this is an absolutely new field of activity for many members of our faction and we have much to do in that respect. There are great many challenges and expectations from our faction and my own activities, and we have to do all the possible, sometimes even impossible, to justify all the hopes.

- What kind of projects do you have for 2018? What will the main directions of your faction's and your working activity be?

- The direction of our faction is based on our program provisions. This year, we tried hard to implement them, finding ways to bring our message to the public. We will not deviate from our way of making Armenia better, guarantying a country, where human beings are not means, but a goal. In order to achieve that, we need to build a democratic and free state, with three opposing and counterbalanced wings: executive, legislative, and judicial.

- Mrs. Tandilyan, as for the New Year, do you like this holiday? How do you usually celebrate it?

- To be honest, the New Year does not inspire me illusions and tell fairy tales. I have long known that December 31 will not be any different from January 1, unless I myself, we ourselves, do not make it different. It is all in our hands, our decisions and our will. And we can make such a decision every single day of the year by realizing that we are the ones, who can make our life a fairy tale. As a holiday, though I do love it, usually celebrating with my family on the New Year's Eve, and with my friends on the following festive days.

- What is the most memorable day of your childhood related to the New Year?

- The brightest memory was a luminous Christmas tree rotating on a self-made screwdriver made by my father. It was a bright spot in the dark and cold years of my childhood.

- At what age did you stop believing in Santa Claus and what was the reason for that?

- I have an impression that I have always known that there is no Santa Claus and I was very sympathetic to all my friends who asked me, "Do you believe in Santa Claus?" On one hand, I did not want them to be disappointed, on the other hand I did not want to lie, and I often said, "Santa Claus exists only for those who believe in him..."

- What is your favorite dish in Holiday season?

- I am not a lover of various dishes, but the dolma made by my father-in-law is the most delicious one for all the seasons of the year.

- What are your New Year wishes to our readers?

- To your readers and our citizens, in general, I want to say that you are the bravest and the strongest because you live, create and dream in Armenia ... It is not easy today, but all these challenges are worth the struggle in order to live in our wonderful homeland, which we should make a real paradise for all Armenians, who want a dignified life in Armenian state.

I wish all an ordinary simple human happiness and prosperity within the borders of your own country. Happy New Year and Merry Christmas!
